For as long as I can remember I've had a passion for language, and an appreciation for the importance of reading, writing, and spelling.
In retrospect, my teaching career started back at York University where I read Language and Linguistics and studied Latin, Norse, and even Swahili. Later, I received my PGCE at the Institute of Education (now part of UCL), which complemented the work I had already done and put me firmly on the trajectory towards becoming an SEN (Special Educational Needs) teacher. For the next 32 years, I worked as a classroom teacher in state and private schools. But a keen interest in barriers to learning propelled me into a Head of Learning Support role at a leading private school. After 9 years I consolidated my experience and became a Specialist Teacher in Specific Learning Difficulties. I completed the Master's course and achieved a merit.
Fast forward to today, and I am based in Northamptonshire, using all of my previous experience to teach in-person and online, with clients in the surrounding area.
